Hello Team,
I hope all of you had an amazing week. We are now into the 3rd week of our spring basketball season. At this point in time I will be introducing a couple offensive plays we will be using during exhibition games and in season games. I am aware that we're in a Rec league, where the expectations are to develop the teams basketball skill and have fun. My goals align with the league expectations, but also includes a chance at winning. We go into every game with high expectations of winning.
To achieve our target mentality, players who are the key to winning and building the program have to show up to practices to develop their skills, improve their intelligence quotient of the game. I am saying this because the turn out to practices has been below average and we really need players to be present at practice.
With all that said, i will be including an attachment of some of the offensive set will be using
Offensive Sets
Name: DIRK
Hand Signal:
Formation: 4 out 1 in - Motion
Principles: This is a pass and cut/screen away offense. With one post inside who traces ball and sets ball screens for pick and rolls. On a guard to guard pass we screen away or exchange. On a guard to wing pass we cut through and fill. The big must show patience and cut hard to where he wants the ball. Perimeter players must look for big and make quick decisions (Shoot, Pass, Drive). Players will need to read and react.
Name: HIGH
Hand Signal:
Formation: 4 across the top - Set Play
Principles: This is a continuous set play. Designed to give us multiple looks to score if we are struggling to create for ourselves. Can also be used as a quick hit play. Players have set movements as opposed to read and react.
Name: 50 (MOTION)
Hand Signal:
Formation: 5 out
Principles: this is a 5 out, small ball line up. Will be used when we have a small lineup on the floor, which will not happen often. This is a read and react offence with pass, cut, fill principles.
